Eufy security cameras are a tech product designed by the electronics company Anker. They are straightforward to install and operate, which makes them popular with less technically savvy consumers. However, these home security cameras are not designed for intense building security and protection. Still, they come with a lot of the same features as major brands at a much lower price.

Eufy Camera Review

Eufy home security cameras are the middle range of budget security cameras offered on the market today. They include a broad range of specific use security cameras for indoors and outdoors. The significant difference between Eufy’s line of products compared to Arlo Pro, Ring, and WYZE cameras is that they do not require a cloud service. Instead, all the video is stored locally on the security camera HomeBase through an SD card.

Eufy wanted to convince people they are focused on privacy protection, so they avoided anything being stored online. However, they do offer cloud services, but for an additional charge. In addition, they are not required to operate the security cameras. Instead, Eufy uses a HomeBase hub to store information from any camera that doesn’t have its own SD slot available. This can also be used to wire cameras through an Ethernet cable instead of wireless, depending on the style and package you purchase.

Each Eufy camera can be controlled and set up using the Eufy application for your smart devices. You can watch a live feed of your home or view any video recordings that happened while you were away. In addition, most of the home security cameras include a two-way radio to speak to someone on the other side.

We enjoyed the incredible sensitivity of the motion sensors on each of the cameras. The floodlight options were fun, but trying to outsmart the AI when running across the camera area or throwing tiny objects made for an excellent office day.

Eufy was smart enough to ensure all major voice assistants work with their home security cameras. They also designed some of their outdoor cameras to hold up in extreme weather. That, coupled with the battery-powered option, really does allow you to put up security cameras pretty much anywhere around your home.

Eufy Security Cameras FAQ

Do I have to purchase the HomeBase option for all the cameras?

No, only some of the Eufy home security cameras require the hub to operate. This is for storage and sometimes for connecting with an Ethernet cable.

Do I have to have internet WiFi in the house?

If you are not using the hub to connect to your camera via Ethernet cables, you will need an internet connection to send video to the SD cards.

Can I use my voice assistant?

The Eufy line of security cameras can work with Google Voice Assistant, Apple HomeKit, and Amazon Alexa.

How sensitive was the motion detection?

We tested it out using various movements, thrown objects, pets, and our intern trying to crawl across the floor. The onboard AI could detect our movements well in each case, so it is very sensitive.

How weatherproof are the outdoor cameras?

We tested these home security cameras during the summer months. It rains pretty frequently where we are based, and we didn’t have any issues. The manufacturer says it can hold up well in snow.

How much recording time will I get?

That will depend on the micro SD card you are using. For example, the 1080p resolution can record up to 72 hours on a 32GB card and 288 hours on a 128GB card. We never had to do extreme recording lengths and opted for the 2K resolution, which we highly recommend for all buyers.

Is the spotlight camera effective?

Absolutely! We set this up at our rear fire entrance that led into a low light area and scared the heck out of a group of raccoons and our cleaning crew. The spotlight has a decent range and luminosity that makes it easy to identify who set it off on video.

Wrapping it Up

There are so many options for security cameras available online now because of all the recent advances in technology and camera design. It is incredible to imagine how private homes can have the same motion sensor technology as major security firms from 5-10 years ago.

The Eufy home security camera line is worth the money. Every device we tested came through on their promised features and were easy to install. In addition, the video quality was excellent and provided enough clarity to quickly identify what motion set off the sensor.

Our favorite part was the smartphone Eufy security app. Again, Eufy spent the time and money on an easy-to-use application that allows you complete control over each security camera you install around your home, office, or apartment.

We really like how well the battery-operated cameras responded. Our only note to the engineers would be to make the floodlights replaceable instead of exchanging the entire unit. Otherwise, these are fantastic devices.

We spent a lot of time in this Eufy camera review process and are happy to say we strongly recommend them to all buyers interested in improving their home security. We suggest getting a bundle package to save a little money and give you a bit more versatility.

When purchasing a camera, you do it for the peace of mind. Eufy provides a wide variety of options for you needs making any camera a great choice.
