Ember Mug² Overview
After unpacking our Ember Mug², we were impressed with how sleek it looked. It has a very modern design with a black steel exterior and silver base.
When we filled up our mug with Hot Chocolate (the only thing that would come out of my Keurig), we realized that there weren't any markings on the inside of the mug, so it made it difficult to know how much liquid was in the cup. There were some small measurements on the side, but they weren't big enough to see unless you held the cup up to the light.
We set our temperature on the Ember app at 130 degrees fahrenheit, which was perfect for drinking right away, but would warm up too quickly if we needed to drink it again later in the day.
If this is something that we will be using multiple times throughout the day, then we probably would bump it up to around 150 or 160 degrees.
This mug has made drinking our favorite drinks faster and easier than ever before. For example, it used to take 30-60 minutes to try and drink hot chocolate because it would always cool off after making it (and we like ours nice and hot). Now with Ember Mug², we can enjoy a piping hot cup of cocoa within minutes.
The Ember Mug² charges via induction and lasts up to 2 hours on a single charge! After your Ember Mug² reaches 100% battery level, it will begin heating or cooling until your desired temperature is achieved when using the mobile app.

Ember Mug App
The Ember Mug² comes with an accompanying app, available for iOS and Android. Using this app, you can control the temperature on your mug, which is perfect if you want to set it at a specific temperature.
Ember Mug² uses WiFi-connectivity to sync with the mobile app on your iOS or Android smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy (BTLE). Through the Ember Mug app, you can set a specific preferred drinking temperature between 120°F - 145°F or even manually adjust the heat level of heating technology to avoid scalding.
Using the "Find My Mugs" feature, you can track down your mug's location in case you happen to forget where you left it. The app also features an alarm that alerts you when your drink reaches the perfect serving temperature.
There are three settings for the app:
On Set Temp: You set your temperature once and drink right away. This is perfect if you know that you will need a cup of coffee or tea at work or while you're on the go. I love this feature!
Off: Your mug won't heat up until you manually turn it on using the app. This setting is perfect when you have to leave your Ember Mug² somewhere longer than 2 hours but still want to keep your hot beverage piping hot.
Lock It: Turn on GPS tracking so that other users in the area can't adjust the temperature remotely, preventing accidents if someone happens to get their hands on your Ember Mug². We thought this was a great safety feature. In addition, this will prevent kids from accidentally bumping the temperature up to a boiling point if they are playing with it.
Beyond allowing you to customize your heating experience, It also features the ability to choose the color of the LED lights on the outside of your mug, set your preferred temperature range, and even set up a notification reminder when it's time for a refill.

How Does Ember Mug² Work?
The Ember Mug² heats up beverages by conducting heat down the cup's exterior using our proprietary heating technology - this allows for a fast and even distribution of heat throughout your drink. The mug is made with 400 ml (13.5 oz) of double-walled vacuum insulation and is designed to keep your drinks hot.
Here is a little insight on the process:
The mug holds heat with no electricity until you connect it to the mobile app via Bluetooth - this means that the heating technology is constantly heating your beverage, even when not in use.
It may take a few seconds to reach your preferred temperature of your drink, which is typical for this type of technology, but it definitely has the power to keep drinks hot for hours on end!
