8 Best Glass Toasters Your Kitchen Needs

8 Best Glass Toaster your Kitchen Needs

Mmm, toast. Best smell ever. Change my mind.

The only thing that might improve on the smell of toast is getting to watch it all happen live through the crystal clear window of a premium glass toaster.

Burnt toast smell? Not the best. But peering down into a traditional pop-up toaster to check your bread’s status is a pain, not to mention it’s liable to get you burned when you poke a finger in to see how it’s coming along.

The solution? A glass toaster, so you can watch the process gently unfold through an adorable little window, and stop it before you smell smoke.

Initially, in our search for the best transparent toaster, all I could do was refer to it as an “Easy-Bake Oven for grown-ups.” But today’s high-end models are too chic and, well, functional for that.

Your kitchen is where the comfort of home begins. Wether you are looking for the latest convenient kitchen accessories or the new healthy cooking appliances, getting it right is crucial. Your toaster choice shouldn’t be any different.

With a massive range of glass toasters on the market, it’s hard to know which are ideal for your kitchen and your toasting needs. We’ve scoured the data and landed on what we consider to be the 8 best glass toasters your kitchen needs.

Glass Toaster – How Much Better is a Transparent Toaster?

Glass toasters have several advantages over traditional toasters, so long as you have the countertop real-estate:

  • Being able to watch your food toast is a daily pick-me-up. It’s a good-looking, novel kitchen appliance house guests will remark on and then probably want to try!
  • More narrow than a traditional pop-up toaster, the modular design of most vertical transparent toasters allows it to fit cleanly against a wall without jutting out too far.
  • Because you can see your bread as it toasts, you’re far less likely to burn it.
  • Toaster ovens, while significantly larger, offer incredible versatility. You can “toast” just about anything you’d bake in a standard oven, so long as it fits inside!
  • As far as features go, glass toasters are comparable to standard in temperature, bread type settings, and browning levels. However, less common in a traditional toaster is the addition of a warming rack, which two of our top eight transparent toasters boast (and we still can’t get enough of).

The Downside To Clear Toasters

Initially, we couldn’t think of much to say about a glass toaster that wasn’t positive.

But the truth is, a clear toaster does have an air of novelty about it that may or may not wear off over time.

If and when it does, the number one thing we would consider when looking into a glass toaster is: How much toast do you eat?

Hear us out.

Let’s say you’ve got a family and you each want one piece of toast, or, dare we assert, TWO. Only a handful of glass toasters have capacity for more than two slices at a time. That’s a lot of waiting on toast over time.

If you’re single, you’re good. Probably.

A few other minor negatives of the glass toaster include:

  • Newer on the toasting scene, so true lifespan can’t be determined
  • Less selection and variety than regular toasters
  • More expensive, on average, than a regular toaster
  • May require more frequent cleaning to keep it looking fresh on your countertop
  • Since most transparent toasters are of the “newfangled” variety, they incorporate newfangled features like digital displays and lights. These components do wear out faster than tried-and-true physical hardwear controls.
  • Too-thin and not-long-enough slots was a fairly common theme in the “cons” of many glass toaster models. It could be that American bread is just to fat (I mean, if the shoe fits …). But more likely is that manufacturers of most glass toasters (toaster ovens excluded) haven’t yet designed one for an American audience. Until these gain more popularity where the bread bakes up big, you may have to settle for one piece at a time, or trim the slice down.

Wrapping it Up

A glass toaster is a fun, pretty appliance with daily practicality—that makes it a win for us.

It just might be the best thing since sliced (toasted) bread.

Any of our 8 best glass toasters for 2021 is likely to become your new favorite kitchen appliance.

Let’s toast to that!
